Powderhorn Calamity Jacket Women’s – Review

Having tried out winter’s ski jackets from many other brands such as Columbia, Spyder and Arc-teryx, I was ready to try out a jacket from a brand that was completely new to me. I always like to try out lots of jackets and after I’ve had a few I usually settle on a brand that then becomes my personal favorite.

The jacket would’ve been too expensive at a local store, so I took a risk by getting it from Amazon at a lower price. I wasn’t sure it would fit me but I made the assumption that this jack’s size didn’t run small, like some other jackets out there. I figured that I could always send it back if I didn’t like it. But at the same time I prefer not to send back too many items to Amazon.

I am of medium build and therefore I ordered the medium size. The jacket arrived the very same week I ordered it. I couldn’t wait to try it on and luckily it fit like a glove!

I wore it for a few minutes and paraded around in it in front of the mirror. I must say that I liked what I was seeing! I soon got very warm so I had to take it off again. The jacket is rated as waterproof and the seams are taped so I’m willing to believe that water stands no chance of getting in here.

The hood is removable. I like that very much, because I don’t want to have to walk around with it when it’s not necessary. I’m not sure exactly how cold it’s going to be next winter, so the option of being able to take the hood off is something I always look for in a jacket. For me, this can be a make or break thing when it comes to my buying decision.

There are two front pockets in the jacket, but also a chest pocket and yet another pocket on the inside. Plenty of room to put my stuff so I won’t have to carry a backpack as well!

I can’t wait for the winter to arrive, when me and my sister will be going on our very first skiing trip together. I can’t wait to show off my jacket!
